Várzea Grande Loses a Legal and Musical Pioneer: Iran da Silva Fernandes Passes Away at 75
Várzea Grande, MT – The community of Várzea Grande is in mourning following the passing of Iran da Silva Fernandes, a respected lawyer and a key figure in the city’s musical heritage. Fernandes, who died of a heart attack on Saturday (14) at the age of 75, was not only a dedicated legal professional but also one of the founders of the city’s municipal band.
Fernandes’ multifaceted career saw him serve as a parliamentary advisor in addition to his work in law. His contributions to the cultural landscape of Várzea Grande were significant, particularly through his involvement with the municipal band, which played a crucial role in fostering local musical talent.
The wake for Fernandes will be held at the Santo Antônio Funeral Home in Várzea Grande, starting at 5 p.m. The family has opted for a cremation ceremony, foregoing a traditional burial.
The Brazilian Bar Association – Mato Grosso Section (OAB-MT) expressed its condolences and extended solidarity to Fernandes’ family and friends, acknowledging his impact on both the legal and cultural spheres of the region.
